LOWELL, Mass. – UMass Lowell men's soccer goalkeeper
Alvaro Medrano (Guatemala City, Guatemala) has been selected to represent Guatemala at the 2026 Concacaf U-20 Championship, which will be held from July 24 through August 9 in Mexico.

The tournament will be played at Estadio Universitario BUAP and Estadio Cuauhtémoc in Puebla, as well as Estadio Banorte in Mexico City. Guatemala will compete in Group B alongside Antigua and Barbuda, Costa Rica and host Mexico, with the top teams advancing to the knockout stage.
Medrano appeared in eight matches and made seven starts in goal for the River Hawks during his freshman campaign in 2025. He posted a 4-2-2 record with a 1.33 goals-against average and a .787 save percentage while recording three shutouts.
Guatemala opens group play against Costa Rica on July 24 before taking on Antigua and Barbuda on July 27 and host Mexico on July 30.
