The event was initiated by the Student Athletic Advisory Committee as one of a variety of events they do to raise funds for the Make-A-Wish Foundation every year. The bowling event grew out of discussions over various fundraising methods. It started, several years ago, as a competition primarily between athletic teams but grew into an inclusive event in which other campus clubs and organizations are invited to participate.
