POUGHKEEPSIE, N.Y. (Sept. 7, 2013) – Playing its third match in a 24-hour span, UMass Lowell suffered a 3-0 loss to Marist College Saturday night in the 2013 Volley in the Valley at McCann Arena.

With the loss, UMass Lowell slipped to 0-5 entering the Art Carmichael Tournament next weekend at the University of Rhode Island. The River Hawks meet the host Rams Friday at 12:00 and Texas-El Paso Saturday at 12:00.

Marist improved to 4-3 and visits Lafayette Friday at 6:00.

Junior Ella Merrill (Bermuda Dunes, Calif.) led UMass Lowell with six kills and 11 digs while junior MH Anisa Smith (Moraga, Calif.) and freshman Megan Young (Westlake Village, Calif.) each had three kills.

Freshman OH Amanda Bradley led Marist with eight kills while hitting .600 (eight kills, two errors, 10 attacks) while junior MB Marisa Gilbert led the Red Foxes with seven kills and three blocks and junior MB Mackenzie Stevens six kills while hitting .444 (6-2-9). Junior libero Brooke Zywick compiled 21 digs.

Earlier Saturday, UMass Lowell suffered a 3-0 loss to Dartmouth (25-16, 25-19, 25-21) despite nine kills, two blocks and two aces by Smith and six kills and seven digs from Merrill. Junior Kamiren Humphrey (Tucson, Ariz.) dished out 13 assists.
