Senior striker Brittany Pfaff scored in the 95th minute to give Siena College a 2-1 overtime victory over UMass Lowell, Friday afternoon in a non conference match at Siena Field.

Pfaff, left all alone in front of the River Hawk cage punched home a pass from Taylor D'Alfonso. Michelle Yanniello also was credited with an assist. The goal was Pfaff's second of the game.

The loss dropped the River Hawks record to 0-3. UMass Lowell will host Yale University in Sunday afternoon's home opener.

With the win, Siena improved to 3-1. The Saints visit Stony Brook on Sunday.

"The one constant has been our effort," said Head Coach Elie Monteiro. "The effort is there and we are learning and improving. We improving from game to game and from half to half; there were a lot of positives to take from this game."

Freshman Taylor Packwood (Somerset, N. J.) scored the lone River Hawk goal, in the 52nd minute, lofting the ball over the goalkeeper and into the top left corner of the net. The goal was unassisted but resulted from a turnover forced by UMass Lowell pressure in the midfield.

"She's young and getting accustomed to the college game," said Monteiro of the freshman. "She was a good goal scorer throughout high school; she continues to learn and has a good head on her shoulders."

Junior GK Jill Carlson (Lexington, Mass.) stopped twelve shots for the River Hawks, who were outshot 14-3 on target and 29-6 overall.

Siena had a 1-0 halftime lead after Pfaff found the back of the net at the 16 minute mark. She was assisted by D'Alfonso.

Erin Kelly and Liz Rogan shared the goalkeeping responsibilities for the Saints. Rogan made two saves while allowing the River Hawk marker. Kelly neither allowed a goal nor made a save in the first half of the clash.
