RIVER HAWKS SUFFER 3-0 LOSS TO PRINCETON IN BRYANT TOURNAMENT SECOND ROUND

Young leads balanced effort; Season-highs abound despite loss

Sophomore OH Kendall Peterkin compiled 13 kills and nine digs as Princeton University defeated UMass Lowell, 3-0, Saturday morning in the second round of the Bryant University Volleyball Tournament at the Chace Athletic Center.
 
With the loss, UMass Lowell, in its first NCAA Division I season, slipped to 0-10 and plays its final match of the tournament at 3:00 against St. John's University. Princeton improved to 4-5 and meets Stony Brook at 5:00.
 
Game scores favored the Tigers 25-10, 25-19 and 25-16. In the second set, UMass Lowell led 18-16, but the Tigers ended the set with nine of the next 10 points for a 25-19 win.
 
Freshman Megan Young (Westlake Village, Calif.) led UMass Lowell with seven kills – matching a season-high – and three digs while junior MH Anisa Smith (Moraga, Calif.) chipped in five kills and four digs. Freshman Ana Anadon (Carlsbad, Calif.) also had a season-high five kills while freshman MH Elima Ahzi (San Diego, Calif.) chipped in four kills.
 
Senior setter Olivia Parkins dished out a season-high 21 assists in addition to four digs.
 
Junior OH Sarah Hanna added eight kills and hit .412 for the Tigers (eight kills, one error, 17 attacks) while Nicole Kincade also had eight kills and hit .364 (8-0-22). Freshman setter Lauren Miller dished out 34 assists.
