The UMass Lowell volleyball team suffered a three-set loss to the Univeristy of Texas-El Paso, Saturday afternoon in the University of Rhode Island Art Carmichael Invitational at the Keaney Gymnasium.

The match scores were 19-25, 12-25 and 19-25.

UMass Lowell, in its inaugural NCAA Division I season, falls to 0-7, while UTEP improves to 4-5. The River Hawks visit Harvard Wednesday night at 7:00 p.m.

Junior OH Ella Merrill (Bermuda Dunes, Calif) had a match-high 16 digs, to go with her six kills to lead UMass Lowell. Senior OH Brooke Peterson (Del Mar, Calif.) and junior MH Anisa Smith (Moraga, Calif.) each had a team-high seven kills. Senior setter Olivia Parkins (Dracut, Mass.) dished out 14 assists, while junior Kamiren Humphrey (Tucson, Ariz.) contributed with 11 assists.

The Miners' Malia Patterson had a match high 34 assists while Xitlali Herrera led with 17 kills, and Dayana Acevedo Rios a team-high 14 digs for UTEP. The Miners next play South Dakota State next Friday night in the UTEP/New Mexico State Invitational.
