UMass Lowell Falls to Bentley, 81-70

Chad Holley led the River Hawks with 18 points, but UMass Lowell dropped the final game of the regular season, 81-70, at Bentley University

Sophomore G Chad Holley (New York, N.Y.) had 18 points and junior F Antonio Bivins (Miami, Fla.) added 13 points and 11 boards, but UMass Lowell fell to Bentley, 81-70, in a conference game on Tuesday night in Waltham, Mass.
 
With the loss, UMass Lowell finishes the season at 14-12 overall and 10-12 in conference play.
 
Bentley ends the regular season with an 11-15 overall record and a 9-13 mark in the Northeast-10.
 
Bentley opened the game with a three-pointer from sophomore G J.P. Koury. However, The River Hawks would respond with five consecutive points on two free throws from Bivins and a three-pointer from freshman F Kennedy Chukwuocha (Willingboro, N.J.).
 
Chukwuocha finished the night with nine points and four rebounds.
 
Koury also finished with nine points for the Falcons.  
 
Benley matched UMass Lowell's run with a 10-3 run of its own. 5 points apiece from freshman F Tyler McFarland and senior G Mike Topercer highlighted the run for the Falcons and gave Bentley a 13-8 lead.
 
McFarland led all scorers with 29 points, while Topercer finished with nine points. Junior G Jasper Grassa chipped in with 12 points.
 
Trailing by six with just twenty-four seconds remaining in the half, Chad Holley beat the clock with a jumper and cut the Bentley lead to four at the break.
 
Junior G Nomso Emetarom (Framingham, Mass.) gave the River Hawks a big spark to begin the second half, scoring four consecutive points to even the game, 45-45.
 
Emetarom finished the game with nine points.
 
“I am so happy for Nomso,” said UMass Lowell head coach, Greg Herenda. “He willed us back in the game but we just did not have enough to sustain it.”
Bentley regained control later in the second half. McFarland and freshman G Alex Furness hit back-to-back three-pointers, which gave Bentley an eight point lead.
 
Furness finished the game with five points and two rebounds.
 
“Bentley has always played very well here at home and tonight was no exception,” Herenda added. “We are happy to have a home conference game on Friday night. Le Moyne, like every team in this league, is a handful.
 
UMass Lowell shot 40% (25-62) while Bentley shot 41% (26-63). The Falcons held the advantage on the boards as well, pulling down 44 rebounds to the River Hawks' 34.
