BOSTON, Mass. – UMass Lowell men's basketball freshman
Victor Okojie (Castlebar, Ireland) earned his first America East Rookie of the Week nod following his performance in a pair of outings, as announced by the league office on Monday.
Okojie averaged 11.5 points and 11.0 rebounds in a 1-1 week on the road for the River Hawks. The rookie paced the team on the glass in both outings, totaling 11 boards in each contest. The highlight of the week came at UAlbany on February 7, when Okojie not only logged a career-high, 22-point outburst, but also his first career double-double with 11 rebounds to help propel his squad to an 89-79 victory.
So far this season, Okojie averages 5.6 points and 5.1 rebounds per game. Next up, the River Hawks open a three-game homestand against Bryant on Thursday, Feb. 12 at 6 p.m.
