Box Score

WEST HARTFORD, Conn. (Nov. 3, 2013) – Junior OH Sareeta Nethersole compiled 11 kills and hit .455 to lead the University of Hartford over UMass Lowell, 3-0, Sunday afternoon in an America East Conference volleyball match at the Hartford Volleyball Gymnasium.

Game scores favored the Hawks 25-19, 25-16 and 25-13.

Senior OH Brooke Peterson (Del Mar, Calif.) led UMass Lowell with six kills and six digs while junior OH Ella Merrill (Bermuda Dunes, Calif.) added five kills and four digs. Junior MH Anisa Smith (Moraga, Calif.) also chipped in five kills while junior setter Kamiren Humphrey (Tucson, Ariz.) dished out 12 assists.

Junior OH Hannah Rey led the defense with nine digs.

"The past two games we've played well, we're just not getting the points," said Head Coach Karen McNulty. "I thought Brooke and Hannah played really well. We're really fighting and we had some service runs. We outblocked an opponent again, so defensively, we're doing what we're supposed to."

Nethersole had 11 kills with one error on 22 attacks while sophomore OH Chandler Goodwin (.375 hitting) and senior MB Lindsay Anderson each chipped in seven kills. Junior setter Jackie Tamburri had 31 assists in addition to 10 digs.

With the loss, UMass Lowell slipped to 0-22 overall and 0-10 in America East. The River Hawks wrap their first season in Division I with four straight home matches beginning Friday against Stony Brook (7:00) and Sunday against UMBC (11:00).

Hartford improved to 10-16 overall and 4-6 in America East and visits Binghamton Friday at 7:00.
