UMass Lowell Suffers 0-3 Loss to Binghamton on Senior Night

LOWELL (Nov. 15, 2013) – Freshman OH Allison Hovie had 12 kills while junior OH Kristin Hovie added 11 to lead Binghamton University over UMass Lowell, 3-0, Friday night in an America East Conference volleyball clash at the Costello Athletic Center.
 
Junior MH Anisa Smith (Moraga, Calif.) led UMass Lowell with six kills and three blocks while junior OH Ella Merrill (Bermuda Dunes, Calif.) added four kills and four digs and freshman MH Elima Ahzi (San Diego, Calif.) four kills. Junior setter Kamiren Humphrey (Tucson, Ariz.) dished out nine assists and also chipped in five digs, two blocks and two kills.
 
Junior libero Hannah Rey (San Diego, Calif.) led the defense with 13 digs.
 
Allison Hovie hit .375 with 12 kills and three errors on 24 attacks while Kristin Hovie (11-4-21) hit .333. Senior MH Grace Vickers added 10 kills while hitting .350. Junior setter Amanda Dettman compiled 28 assists while senior libero Xiomara Ortiz posted a match-high 19 digs.
 
With the loss, UMass Lowell slipped to 0-25 overall and 0-13 in America East and hosts Albany Saturday at 7:00 in the 2013 season finale.
 
Binghamton improved to 9-18 overall and 7-6 in the Conference and visits New Hampshire Sunday at 1:00 in its final match of the regular season.
