Anisa Smith (Moraga, Calif.) had a season-high 12 kills and hit .455 but it was not enough as UMass Lowell suffered a 3-0 loss at Providence College Friday night in an America East Conference volleyball clash at the Mullaney Gymnasium.

Kamiren Humphrey (Tucson, Ariz.) compiled 23 assists in addition to five digs, four kills and three blocks.

"We had some great rallies, some long rallies that we just couldn't put away," said Head Coach
Karen McNulty. "I'm not sure the score was indicative of some of the rallies that went on. I thought we blocked very well, especially since we're pretty small against a lot of these teams. I thought Anisa and Elima were great for us."

With the loss UMass Lowell slipped to 0-21 overall and 0-8 in America East entering Sunday's clash at Hartford.

Junior OH Mackenzie Ziegler led the Friars with 13 kills and three digs while hitting .458 (13-2-24). Sophomore MB Lindsay Witt added nine kills while hitting .533 (9-1-15) and freshman OH Kayla Fitzgerald eight kills and six digs. Sophomore setter Jordan Wiesler dished out 35 assists.
