Solimine Continues Form at CCSU Mini Meet

Solimine clocks 3K course in 10:35; America East Championship next Saturday

NEW BRITAIN, Conn. (Oct. 25, 2013) – Freshman Jackie Solimine (Haverhill, Mass.) placed 26th overall to lead the UMass Lowell women's cross country team at the Central Connecticut State University Mini Meet Friday afternoon at Stanley Quarter Park.
 
UMass Lowell, with only four runners, did not figure into the team scoring. Providence College (2, 13, 18, 22, 23 – 34, 67) and Massachusetts (3, 9, 15, 24, 27 – 35, 41) shared the team title with 78 points apiece while Bryant (117), New Hampshire (129) and Binghamton (138) rounded out the top five.
 
The meet drew 137 runners representing 16 Division I colleges. All four UMass Lowell earned personal-best results for the 3K.
 
Solimine posted a time of 10 minutes, 35 seconds for the 3K course while senior Karie Judge (Tewksbury, Mass.) placed 41st in 10:43. Sophomore Kelsey O'Driscoll (New Providence, N.J.) finished 72nd in 11:07 while senior Bridget Meehan (Nashua, N.H.) capped the effort in 83rd with a time of 11:17.
 
Eimear Black of Bryant University won the individual title in 9:47 and edged Grace Thek of Providence who posted a time of 9:51.
 
UMass Lowell gears for the America East Conference Championship next Saturday (hosted by Binghamton University) in Vestal, N.Y.
