NORTH DARTMOUTH, Mass. – The UMass Lowell women's cross country team found much success at the UMass Dartmouth Invite Saturday afternoon.
"The team ran really well today," said Head Coach
Gary Gardner. "Georgia had a huge breakthrough today and I am really proud of her. She has worked incredibly hard. Miana and Sarah are still in really high mileage and felt it the last 1,000 meters but are in fantastic shape. I am excited for the young kids on both teams."
In the gold 6k, sophomore
Georgia Brooks (Groton, Mass.) was the first River Hawk to finish, taking 11th place with a time of 21:49.80. Graduate student
Sarah Ross (Agawam, Mass.) was just behind her in 15th place, finishing in 21:54.33. Senior
Miana Caraballo (Methuen, Mass.) and freshman
Anna Fondakowski finished consecutively in 26th and 27th place, respectively with times of 22:15.31 and 22:22.22.
In the navy 6k, three River Hawks finished within the top 20, including the winner, sophomore
Salma Boukhtam (Quincy, Mass.), who finished with a time of 23:26.89. Sophomore
Selena Wood (Abington, Mass.) claimed 11th place with a time of 24:12.07, while freshman
Addyson Hunt (Wilmington, Mass.) finished in 19th with a 24:30.47.
Next, the River Hawks take on the Paul Short Run on October 3 at Lehigh.
