BETHLEHEM, Pa. – The UMass Lowell women's cross country team traveled to Lehigh on Friday morning to compete in the Paul Short Run.

"It was interesting, but overall pleased with the results," said Head Coach Gary Gardner. "We are very young overall, but with some exceptional upperclassman. Pretty much all the women in the gold race ran well. Sarah ran a perfect race for her and Georgia and Miana ran well overall. Gracie and Anna pulled through 4 and 5 and are only scratching the surface."

The first event of the day was the 6k open, as sophomore Selena Wood (Abington, Mass.) led the River Hawks, claiming 146th place at a 23:23.1 mark, while junior Lena Takahashi (Holden, Mass.) finished at a 23:42.2 mark in 182nd place.

Also running for UMass Lowell in the 6k race are freshman Addyson Hunt (Wilmington, Mass.), graduate student Kaitlyn Stevens (Oxford, Mass.), freshman Sabrina Vitale (Dracut, Mass.), and freshman Grace Brackett (Wakefield, Mass.).

UMass Lowell had a small group competing in the college gold 6k, with graduate student Sarah Ross (Agawam, Mass.) in front, claiming 110th with a 21:20.5, as sophomore Georgia Brooks (Groton, Mass.) finished in 179th with a 21:46.2 mark.

Also competing for the River Hawks in the college gold race are senior Miana Caraballo (Methuen, Mass.), freshman Anna Fondakowski, freshman Gracie Richard (Weymouth, Mass.), graduate student Delaney Swanson (Swanzey, N.H.), freshman Krista Bettez (Gardner, Mass.), senior Mia Jones (Blacksburg, Va.), and sophomore Lauren Long (Lunenburg, Mass.), respectively.

The team looks ahead to the Princeton Fall Classic on Friday, October 17, at Princeton.
