Albany Sweeps UMass Lowell Despite Solid Effort, 3-0

Six players with four or more kills; at Binghamton next

ALBANY (Oct. 18, 2013) – Six players registered four or more kills but it was not enough as UMass Lowell suffered a 3-0 loss at the University of Albany Friday night in an America East Conference volleyball clash at the SEFCU Arena.
 
With the loss, UMass Lowell slipped to 0-18 overall and 0-5 in America East entering Sunday's match at Binghamton (1:00).
 
Albany improved to 4-15 overall and 4-2 in the Conference and visits New Hampshire Friday at 7:00.
 
Game scores favored the Great Danes 25-17, 25-17 and 25-14.
 
Six UMass Lowell players recorded at least four kills, led by junior MH Anisa Smith (Moraga, Calif.) who had six kills and two blocks, while junior setter Kamiren Humphrey (Tucson, Ariz.) had five kills to go along with her 19 assists and nine digs.
 
Freshman OH Ana Anadon (Carlsbad, Calif.) also had five kills while senior OH Brooke Peterson (Del Mar, Calif.) had four kills and nine digs. Freshman Elima Ahzi (San Diego, Calif.) and junior OH Ella Merrill (Bermuda Dunes, Calif.) each chipped in four kills. Senior libero Carolyn Eddy (Dracut, Mass.) led the defense with 13 digs.
 
Sophomore OH Tatum Jungsten led Albany with a match-high 13 kills while hitting .579 (13 kills, two errors, 19 attacks) while Laini Leindecker added seven kills and 10 digs. Freshman setter Mikala McCauley compiled 30 assists and 10 digs.
