UMass Lowell volleyball suffered a three set loss at Le Moyne on Sunday, despite a career-high seven blocks from sophomore
Sierra Brown (San Diego, Calif.).
The River Hawks (5-7, 0-3 Northeast-10) will look to snap this current two-game losing skid when they host Southern New Hampshire on Thursday at 7 PM. The Dolphins (10-4, 1-1 NE-10) head to Saint Rose on Tuesday for a 7 PM match.
UMass Lowell dropped the opener, 19-25. Le Moyne came out strong and mounted a 10-18 lead before committing an error to put the serve into
Anisa Smith's (Moraga, Calif.) hands. Smith then served the River Hawks to seven straight points to notch the score at 18-18. The Dolphins ultimately composed themselves and reeled off seven of the next eight points to take the set.
The second set played much more evenly, but UMass Lowell was unable to keep pace with Le Moyne's offense down the stretch, falling 22-25. The closest the River Hawks came to taking control of the frame was after
Brooke Peterson (Del Mar, Calif.) landed a kill to cap off a three-point stretch to put UMass Lowell ahead 14-11.
The River Hawks trailed for most of the third set, but pulled even at 22-22 before the Dolphins closed out the match with a 22-25 win.
For the day, Peterson and Smith tied for the team lead with seven kills each. Smith was also able to dig six balls. Brown had a career-day, landing three kills and totaling seven blocks (1 solo, 6 assists).
