UMass Lowell Edges Saint Michael’s, 3-2

Brown, Smith, Peterson trio account for 40 kills

UMass Lowell wins its third straight match with a 3-2 victory over Saint Michael's
Box Score Sophomores Sierra Brown (San Diego, Calif.), Anisa Smith (Moraga, Calif.) and junior Brooke Peterson (Del Mar, Calif.) combined for 40 kills as UMass Lowell overcame a 2-1 deficit to defeat Saint Michael's, 3-2, Tuesday night in a Northeast-10 Conference volleyball clash at the Costello Athletic Center.

Game scores were 20-25, 25-22, 25-27, 25-17, 15-12.

The win was the third straight for UMass Lowell, which improved to 8-7 overall and 3-3 in the Conference entering Friday night's match at New York Institute of Technology (4:00) and Saturday's NE-10 match at New Haven (1:00).

Saint Michael's slipped to 9-6 overall and 1-3 in the NE-10.

Brown led the River Hawks with 15 kills and three blocks while hitting .429 (15 kills, three errors, 28 attacks. Smith added 13 kills, five aces and five digs while Peterson chipped in 12 kills and 14 digs.

Junior S Olivia Parkins (Dracut, Mass.) dealt 47 assists to go along with eight digs while junior OH Kiana Raposo (Acushnet, Mass.) added 15 digs and junior libero Carolyn Eddy (Dracut, Mass.) 12 digs.

Senior OH Katie Walsh led Saint Michael's with 15 kills and five digs while junior MH Chelsey Covitz added 14 kills and five blocks. Junior S Jess McLeod dished out 34 assists along with 15 digs while senior libero Courtney Dunne had a match-high 22 digs.
