River Hawks hit a collective .319; host Southern Connecticut Saturday

Sophomore Sierra Brown (San Diego, Calif.) registered 15 kills and four blocks while hitting .433 to lead UMass Lowell over Merrimack, 3-0, Tuesday night in a Northeast-10 Conference volleyball clash at Bert Hammel Court.

Game scores were 25-21, 25-17 and 25-21.

The win was the second straight for the River Hawks, who improved to 10-12 overall and 5-7 in the NE-10 entering Saturday's home match against Southern Connecticut (1:00).

Merrimack slipped to 9-17 overall and 1-10 in the Conference.

UMass Lowell hit a collective .319 – its second-best hitting effort of the year – as it compiled 45 kills and only nine errors on 113 attacks.

Brown had 15 kills with two errors on 30 attacks while junior MH Jamie Muntz (West Hartford, Conn.) added 10 kills while hitting .450 (10 kills, one error, 20 attacks. Sophomores Anisa Smith (Moraga, Calif.) and Ella Merrill (Bermuda Dunes, Calif.) each added eight kills while Smith also had three service aces, three digs and three blocks. Merrill also had four digs and two blocks.

Junior setter Olivia Parkins (Dracut, Mass.) had 38 assists.

Sophomore OH Stephanie Sheehan led Merrimack with 13 kills and six digs while hitting .333. Senior OH Shaunda Forcier chipped in 10 kills.
