Seniors Julia Donigian (Wakefield, Mass.) and Keanna Santos (Lakeville, Mass.) each scored goals to lead UMass Lowell over Saint Michael's College, 2-1, Wednesday night in a Northeast-10 Conference women's soccer clash at Cushing Field.

The win halted a four-match slide for UMass Lowell, which improved to 5-9-2 overall and 4-9-1 in the Conference entering Saturday's season finale at Southern Connecticut (2:00).

Saint Michael's slipped to 3-11-2 overall and 3-9-2 in the Conference and ends its season at Pace Saturday at 12:00.

Shortly after a pregame ceremony for the seniors of both teams, Donigian and senior B Taylor Hartmann (Feeding Hills, Mass.) combined nicely for a 1-0 lead in the fifth minute. Hartmann came down the left flank and found Donigian, who touched to the left and fired home a shot which deflected off Santos.

Saint Michael's leveled in the 44th minute when freshman M Elaine Van de Wille pounced on a failed clearance by the River Hawks, and crossed to freshman M Abby Rajotte, who beat junior GK Jill Carlson (Lexington, Mass.) with a 25-yard blast.

The celebration was shortened, however, when Santos' restored the lead 35 seconds later. Santos pressured the Purple Knight defense, capitalized on a turnover and slotted home for her fifth of the year.

UMass Lowell outshot Saint Michael's, 9-4 overall and 4-1 on frame. Sophomore GK Aubrey Ouellet had two saves for Saint Michael's while Carlson was tested once.
