Pace Too Much for UMass Lowell in 3-1 Loss

River Hawks suffer fifth straight loss entering a week’s hiatus

Freshman OH Megan Kurz compiled 16 kills and 16 digs to lead Pace University over UMass Lowell, 3-1, Saturday afternoon in a Northeast-10 Conference volleyball clash at the Costello Athletic Center.

The loss was the fifth straight for UMass Lowell, which slipped to 8-12 overall and 3-7 in the NE-10. The River Hawks enjoy a week's hiatus before visiting Assumption for a tri-match Sunday, Oct. 28.

UMass Lowell meets Assumption at 12:00 and face Molloy at 2:00.

Pace improved to 11-14 overall and 5-3 in the Conference.

Junior MH Jamie Muntz (West Hartford, Conn.) led UMass Lowell with 11 kills and two blocks while hitting .375 (11 kills, two errors, 24 attacks). Sophomore Sierra Brown (San Diego, Calif.) added nine kills while sophomore MH Anisa Smith (Moraga, Calif.) chipped in eight kills.

Junior Brooke Peterson (Del Mar, Calif.) chipped in seven kills and nine digs. Junior S Olivia Parkins (Dracut, Mass.) dished out 37 assists in addition to eight digs and junior libero Carolyn Eddy (Dracut, Mass.) led the defense with 14 digs.

Kurz hit .316 (16 kills, four errors, 38 attacks) while senior OH Nora Rugova chipped in 15 kills and 14 digs and senior MB Tamilee Webb 10 kills. Senior libero Elyse Rowland led Pace's defense with a match-high 19 digs while sophomore S Brooke Spreyerer dished out 39 assists.
