New York Tech Stops UMass Lowell, 3-1

Junior OH Shelby Cable compiled 18 kills and six services aces as New York Institute of Technology defeated UMass Lowell, 3-1, Friday afternoon in a non-conference volleyball match at Recreation Hall.

Game scores were 25-13, 23-25, 25-17, 25-13.

The loss halted a three-match winning streak for UMass Lowell, which slipped to 8-8 entering Saturday's Northeast-10 Conference match at the University of New Haven (1:00).

NYIT improved to 13-4 overall. The Bears hit a collective .295 (56 kills, 17 errors, 132 attacks) while UMass Lowell struggled to a .063 clip (31-23-126).

Sophomore OH Ella Merrill (Bermuda Dunes, Calif.) led UMass Lowell with eight kills and seven digs while sophomore OH Anisa Smith (San Diego, Calif.) added seven kills and six digs. Junior S Olivia Parkins (Dracut, Mass.) dished out 12 assists.

Cable hit .342 and also compiled nine digs and five blocks while junior OH Savannah Donarski added 11 kills and junior RSH Katarina Stretnovic 10 kills. Junior S Marija Jovanovic dished out 43 assists while adding 10 digs.
