UMass Lowell field hockey goalkeeper Veerle Mous (Breda, Netherlands) was named the first America East Goalkeeper of the Week for the new season, as announced by the conference office on Tuesday.

Mous turned in a perfect 60 minutes of action across two games during the 2026 opening weekend. She played the first half at both Stanford and UC Davis, not allowing any goals with two saves.

For her efforts, Mous was also named the River Hawk of the Week. The "River Hawk of the Week" is chosen in voting by the UMass Lowell Athletic Communications staff. It honors the top athlete, male or female, based on performance during the previous week of competition.

Mous and the River Hawks return to action on Friday, Sept. 4 when they visit No. 3 Harvard for a 4 p.m. matchup.
