UMass Lowell field hockey junior midfielder Georgia Cowderoy (Ashmore, Queensland, Australia) has been selected to be the first River Hawk of the Week recipient in 2015-16.

Cowderoy led her squad to a pair of wins last week with two goals for four points. She netted the game-winner in a season-opening, 2-1 decision against Quinnipiac on August 28. Later in the week, the midfielder found the back of the cage against Providence to help secure the 3-2 victory. She started both outings and was tied for first on the team with seven shots, as well. The "River Hawk of the Week" is chosen each week in voting by the UMass Lowell Athletic Communications staff. It honors the top athlete, male or female, based on performance during the previous week of competition.

UMass Lowell returns to action on Friday, September 4 when the squad makes its first road trip of the year up to Dartmouth for a 3 p.m. contest.
