Sophomore thrower Candace Greene (Annapolis, Md.) was named UMass Lowell’s Northwestern Mutual Athlete of the Week Tuesday after throwing a personal-best distance of 48 feet, 0.5 inches at the Penn Relays at Franklin Field in Philadelphia, PA on Thursday afternoon.
Greene placed third out of 38 throwers with a distance of 48 feet, 0.5 inches. She beat her previous best of 45 feet, 3 inches.
Green currently ranks fifth in the latest NCAA Division II qualifying list.
Greene is the daughter of Pandora Gray of Annapolis, Md. and Jeffrey Greene Sr. of Odenton, Md.
