Senior guard Bianca Simmons (Middletown, Conn.) was named UMass Lowell’s Northwestern Mutual Athlete of the Week Wednesday after leading the women’s basketball to victory over Queens College (72-52) Sunday afternoon at the Costello Athletic Center.
Simmons led all River Hawks with 17 points, 11 assists, six steals and grabbed seven rebounds in the victory over Queens.
For the season Simmons is averaging 23.5 points per a game, 7.8 rebounds per a game, and 7.0 assists per a game which is first, 13 and second respectively in the Northeast-10.
Simmons was also named NE-10 Co-Player of the Week on Monday.
Simmons is the daughter of Cheryl and Reginald Simmons of Middletown, Conn.
