BOSTON, Mass. – UMass Lowell fifth year Max Brooks (Waldorf, Md.) garnered America East Player of the Week honors, as announced by the conference office on Monday.
Brooks led the way for the River Hawks in a 2-0 week, averaging 22.0 points and 9.0 rebounds. He also totaled nine blocks and five steals, while shooting an incredible 91% (19-21) from the field. With a season-high eight blocks against LIU on December 11, he became the program’s all-time career blocks leader, surpassing a record that had stood for 35 years. Days later, he propelled the team to a comeback win against Dartmouth on Dec. 14 with 26 points on 12-for-12 shooting from the floor. His perfect effort goes down as just the second 12-for-12 performance in the nation so far this season. This award marks the first Player of the Week honor for Brooks this season.
Brooks has also been named River Hawk of the Week for his efforts. The "River Hawk of the Week" is chosen in voting by the UMass Lowell Athletic Communications staff. It honors the top athlete, male or female, based on performance during the previous week of competition.
