BOSTON – After scoring a team-high four goals in a hard-fought 15-14 loss to #23 Brown, UMass Lowell women's lacrosse freshman Chloe Bowers (Whitefish Bay, Wis.) has been named the America East Rookie of the Week, as announced by the conference on Monday morning.
In Saturday's contest, Bowers got on the board with her 26th goal of the year just two minutes into the match, putting her team in front 2-0. Later, she added a goal in both the second and third quarters, before finding the back of the net for the final time with 4:47 remaining in the game to pull her squad back within one. The Wisconsin native finished the day with four points, two ground balls, and one draw control.
So far this season, Bowers leads her team in goals (29) and points (32). The freshman also ranks top-five on the team in draw controls (19) and caused turnovers (6). This marks her fourth AE Rookie of the Week honor, marking the most by a River Hawk in program history.
