Following a combined 37 points in the UMass Lowell women’s basketball weekend sweep over Hartford, guard Kharis Idom (Orlando, Fla.) has been tabbed the River Hawk of the Week for the first time this season.
Idom helped improve the team's record to 7-4 overall and 6-2 in conference action, good for second in the league. She averaged a team-best 18.5 points, with a total of 10 assists and three steals over the 2-0 weekend.
On Saturday, Idom drained a career-high nine free throws for a 100 percent average. Her 18 points led four double-digit scorers for the River Hawks, who secured a season-high 28 field goals to defeat Hartford, 81-45, on January 9.
The Following day, Idom shot 54 percent (7-13) from the field to log a season-high 19 points in a 74-52 victory against the Hawks.
The junior leads the River Hawks in multiple statistical categories this season, including points (11.3 ppg), assists (2.7 pg) and minutes (31.3 mpg).
The "River Hawk of the Week" is chosen in voting by the UMass Lowell Athletic Communications staff. It honors the top athlete, male or female, based on performance during the previous week of competition.
