Freshman Courtney Cashman (Danvers, Mass.) garnered her third America East Rookie of the Week nod this season, as announced by the league office on Tuesday.
Â
The shortstop turned in another successful five-game week, boasting a .588 batting average with 10 hits, six RBI and four runs scored. With one double, one triple and two walks added to her stat line, she slugged .765 with a .632 on-base percentage.
Â
She logged at least one hit in each game last week to extend her current hit streak to 12 games, good for the team's longest of the season.
Â
Cashman started the week going 3-for-6 in a doubleheader against America East opponent Maine on April 13. Two of those hits came in the nightcap of that twin bill, as she paced the team in what would be a 5-3, come-from-behind victory.
Â
Then in the weekend conference series at Binghamton, Cashman registered at least one hit and one RBI in all three games. Her biggest performance at the plate came in the series rubber match on April 16 when she hit 3-for-4 with a triple and three RBI to help lead the River Hawks to a 12-4 win in five innings against the Bearcats.
Â
So far this season, Cashman sits atop the conference rankings with a .449 batting average. She is also leading the River Hawks with 48 hits, 10 doubles and a .664 slugging percentage.
