Senior sprinter Ashley Zielinski (Manchester, N.H.) was named UMass Lowell’s Northwestern Mutual Athlete of the Week Tuesday after leading the women’s track and field team to the 2012 NE-10 Track and Field Championship on Saturday at the Reggie Lewis Track & Athletic Center.
Also named the Northeast-10 Conference Women’s Track Athlete of the Meet, Zielinski won the 55 meter hurdles, placed second in the 55 meter dash and third in 200 meter dash for a total of 24 points.
Zielinski won the 55 meter hurdles with a time of 8.19 seconds. She ran a 7.22 to place second in the 55 meter dash and 25.51 in the 200 meter dash to finish third.
Zielinski contributed 24 of the 150 points UMass Lowell earned to finish in first place’ ahead of Stonehill’s 130 points.
This is Zielinski’s second Northwestern Mutual Athlete of the Week award as she won the honor on December, 13, 2011.
Zielinski is the daughter of Donna Zielinski and Ed Zielinski of Manchester, NH.
