Biography
AS A SENIOR (2016): Young played in eight matches and 23 sets with four service aces and two digs. Played in her final collegiate match on November 4th at New Hampshire.
AS A JUNIOR (2015): Young appeared in 62 sets and 25 matches as co-captain for the River Hawks. She tallied 18 kills, 15 service aces and 50 digs in her junior year. Recorded a season-high five kills on September 12th vs. Quinnipiac and recorded a season-high eight digs on September 18th at Alabama-Birmingham.
AS A SOPHOMORE (2014): Played in 21 matches and started five times (47 sets). Young totaled 23 kills, 4 aces, 41 digs and seven blocks in her sophomore season. Registered a season-high five kills vs. Army on August 30th and a season-high seven digs on Nov. 22nd vs. NJIT. Posted at least one kill in 10 of 21 matches.
AS A FRESHMAN (2013): Appeared in 22 matches (52 games played) with nine starts • Totaled 53 kills, 36 digs, 10 assists and four service aces • Had a career-high seven kills and nine digs vs. Dartmouth (9/7).
BEFORE UMASS LOWELL: Played varsity volleyball at Westlake High School • Three-time Scholar-Athlete • Captain of her club team Point West Mizuno • Also played soccer.
PERSONAL: Megan Michelle Young is one of three children of Margaret and Scott Young of Westlake Village, Calif. • Names Misty May Treanor as her favorite volleyball player • Hobbies include volleyball and hiking • Lists her greatest sports moment when she qualified for the Junior Olympics in Minnestota • Majoring in Exercise Physiology.
