Michael Anderson joined the office of Athletic Academic Services in August 2014. He currently serves as the academic coordinator for six of UMass Lowell’s NCAA Division I programs, along with serving as the advisor to the Student-Athlete Advisory Committee (SAAC). He is a member of the University Council of Advisors (UCA) and is assisting in the development of some of UMass Lowell’s leadership programming.
He is a member of National Association of Academic and student-athlete development professionals (N4A) and a graduate of the 2013 Professional Development Institute (PDI) - New Professionals Track. He will serve as the 2019-2020 chair for the N4A LGBTQA+ Committee.
Prior to UMass Lowell, Anderson spent three years as an Athletic Counselor at the University of Louisiana at Monroe where he oversaw the academic needs of seven teams and was the coordinator of NCAA Life Skills.
Anderson also served in the office of student-athlete support services at Canisius College where he earned his Master of Science in College Student Personnel Administration in 2011.
The Syracuse, N.Y., native received his undergraduate degree in earth science education and geology from SUNY Oswego in 2009. He is a former cross country and track and field student-athlete. He is an avid distance runner and has competed in the Boston Marathon multiple times. He currently resides in Nashua, N.H.
