Biography
AS A JUNIOR (2020-21): Appeared in all 20 games for the River Hawks, scoring 11 points off a pair of goals and nine assists…Registered three points on the power play this year off three goals…Ranked second on the team in blocked shots with 17.
AS A SOPHOMORE (2019-20): He played in 30 games in his sophomore year, registering 15 points (3g,12a) with a +2 plus/minus rating. Barton recorded 13 (2g,11a) of his 15 points in 22 Hockey East contests. His 13 points in league play ranked tied for 10th among Hockey East defenders. Notched a plus or even rating in 22 of 30 contests on the season. UMass Lowell owned a 7-1-3 record when Barton scored a point. Totaled a career-high three assists in the win against Merrimack on January 18th at the Tsongas Center. Barton was named to the Hockey East All-Academic Team for the second consecutive season.Â
AS A FRESHMAN (2018-19): Barton skated in 33 of 37 games in his freshman season for the River Hawks, posting 10 points (2g,8a) with a +6 plus/minus rating and 40 shots on goal. His nine points was third best on the team among rookies scorers. Barton registered six points (1g,5a) with a +5 rating in 21 league games. He recorded his first career goal on December 7th at Boston University in the 5-3, which was also the game-winning tally. Notched a career-high two assists twice, in his second career game vs. RIT (2a) on Oct. 13th and Nov. 9th vs. New Hampshire. Notched his first careeer playoff point in Game 2 of the Hockey East Quarterfinals vs. BU on March 16th at the Tsongas Center. Had a plus or even rating in 27 of 33 games for the River Hawks this season. Amassed a career-high four shots on goal twice in his rookie season on Oct. 13th vs. RIT and March 8th at Vermont.Â
NHL Draft: Barton was selected by the Detroit Red Wings with the 81st overall pick in the 3rd round of the 2018 NHL Draft on June 23, 2018.Â
