Biography

Team Captain PROFILE: An excellent reader of the game who has upheld UML[apos]s tradition of great catchers • Exceptional snap throw • Second year as a member of UMass Lowell[apos]s Student-Athlete Advisory Committee • Very active in community service • Excellent student with a 3.328 grade point average in accounting. AS A SENIOR: Played in 20 games with 15 starts • Served as the team[apos]s captain • Batted .271 but held an on-base percentage of .390 • Highlights include a 2-for-3 effort with an RBI and a run in a 10-1 win over Saint Rose. AS A JUNIOR: Started 29 of 32 games until a foot injury curtailed his season • Drew 13 walks and fielded at a .980 rate • Named sole captain of the team by the coaching staff • Highlights include a 2-for-4 effort with three RBI in a 14-3 win at Dominican • Spent the summer of 2007 playing with the New Bern (NC) River Rats of the Coastal Plain Collegiate Baseball League. AS A SOPHOMORE: UML[apos]s primary catcher, started 31 of 34 games • Looks to build on 2007 stats • Ranked tied for sixth among Northeast-10 Conference leaders in sacrifice bunts (seven) • 2007 highlights included a 2 for 4 effort with four RBI in a 15-3 victory over Molloy College; and two runs in a 10-8 win over Adelphi and a 4-2 win at Saint Rose. AS A FRESHMAN: Played in 25 games with 20 starts • Fielded at a .992 rate • Highlights include a 3 for 5 effort with one run and one RBI in a 12-0 win at Southern New Hampshire • Drove in a season-high three runs in a 10-3 win over Southern Connecticut in the NCAA Tournament first round. HIGH SCHOOL: Three-year player at Pinkerton Academy for coach Ron Manseau • All-State Class L standout in both baseball and football • Named Pinkerton[apos]s Senior Male Athlete of the Year • Shattered every passing record in the Pinkerton football record books • Selected to play in the New Hampshire-Vermont Sugar Bowl • Member of the National Honor Society and the Student Council. PERSONAL: Born Oct. 31, 1986 in Derry, NH • Youngest of three grown children of James and Gail Clohosey of Derry, NH • Enjoys fishing in spare time • Lists Boston Red Sox and New England Patriots as favorite teams • Influences include Jason Varitek and Joe Montana • Aspires to remain involved with baseball.
