Kilcullen, Nemec, Mori Round Out Leadership Group as Alternate Captains

LOWELL, Mass. – UMass Lowell ice hockey head coach Norm Bazin announced senior Sean Kilcullen (Kensington, Md.), junior Libor Nemec (Bratislava, Slovakia) and sophomore Josh Mori (Richmond, B.C.) as alternate captains, joining senior captain Jak Vaarwerk (Clarence, N.Y.) to round out the 2026-27 leadership group.

Kilcullen had a breakout season for the River Hawks last season as a junior, playing in 34 of the team's 35 games and setting careers highs with three goals and six assists for nine points. The defensive force also finished third on the team with 34 blocked shots.

Nemec has been an impact forward for the team since his freshman season in 2024-25. The 6'3" concluded last season playing in all 35 games and tallied three goals and a career-high 12 assists for a career-high 15 points.

Mori shined in his first collegiate season last year, leading all freshmen defensemen with 12 points on four goals and eight assists. He also racked up three multi-point games with two assists at New Hampshire on November 8, two goals against Massachusetts on February 1 and two assists at Vermont on February 14.
