Derek Munroe Named America East 2025-26 Winter Scholar-Athlete

LOWELL, Mass. – Derek Munroe (Tewksbury, Mass.) of the UMass Lowell track and field team has been chosen as the America East Men's Indoor Track and Field Winter Scholar-Athlete, as announced by the conference on Wednesday afternoon.Â
Munroe was also named to his second America East All-Academic team recently and owns a 3.81 graduate GPA in the Doctor of Physical Therapy program after earning a 3.63 undergraduate GPA. On the track, he secured a silver medal in the heptathlon with a school-record 5,301 points at the 2026 America East Indoor Track and Field Championships, while also placing eighth in the pole vault.Â
