Derek Munroe Named America East Male Field Athlete of the Week

LOWELL, Mass. – After a historic performance at this past weekend's Tufts Spring Invitational, senior Derek Munroe (Tewksbury, Mass.) of the UMass Lowell men's track and field team has been named America East Male Field Athlete of the Week, as announced by the conference Tuesday afternoon.Â
Munroe broke the UMass Lowell decathlon record on Saturday at Tufts, totaling 6,935 points to win the event by 255 points. He earned personal-best marks in both the 1,500m run and the long jump and finished first in five of the 10 events, placing him second in the conference this season in the decathlon. This marks his first weekly award of the year. Â
