LOWELL, Mass. — UMass Lowell Baseball Head Coach Nick Barese has announced the newest addition to his coaching staff for the 2026 season. Assistant Coach Drew Guldin joins the River Hawks baseball program after previously coaching at Franklin Pierce University.

"I can't express how excited we are to bring Drew back to UMass Lowell," said Barese. "He has a solid background of player development, recruiting, and building a strong culture. It's never easy to bring in a coach midseason but we are beyond fortunate to have Drew as a part of the staff. There is no doubt he will make us a better program"

While at Franklin Pierce, Guldin was a pitching coach and recruiting coordinator for the team from 2023-26. He led the daily pitching operations for the Ravens who ranked in the top five in the country for strikeouts, top 15 in the country in strikeouts per nine innings, and top three in the conference for earned run average.

"After spending time here as both a player and a coach previously, Lowell is a special place to me," said Guldin. "It's a place I really want to see succeed and I'm happy to be a part of."

Guldin also helped produce multiple All-Conference pitchers and one MLB signee during his time at Franklin Pierce. Coaching the pitchers involved constantly improving on velocity, strike rates, and walk percentages through implementing mechanical and throwing plans. Guldin also helped build role-specific throwing and recovery programs to emphasize availability and long-term arm health. With the Ravens, he was also an important piece when it came to managing the scouting, especially regional and national recruiting, game planning, and catcher collaboration.

He previously work at UMass Lowell in 2023 as a volunteer coach, assisting with the pitchers and catchers, while also helping with scouting and travel operations for the River Hawks.

Prior to his first stint at UMass Lowell, he worked for Ascent Athlete as a pitching and strength and conditioning intern in the summer of 2023. There he was able to contribute to movement screening, strength programming, and pitcher development. At his alma mater, Guldin was a student assistant that worked as the director of player development for a year, as he built offseason development programs and dealt with daily pitching operations.

Guldin was a former collegiate baseball player at the University of Massachusetts from 2018–2020 as a pitcher before later joining Rowan for two seasons (2020-21).

Guldin earned his bachelor's degree in general studies with a focus in business and finance from Rowan University in 2021.
