LOWELL, Mass. – UMass Lowell Associate Athletic Director for Communications and Creative Content Ashley Robbins has announced the promotion of Kyle Brooks to the role of Assistant Director of Athletic Communications. Brooks has spent the last two years as a Communications Assistant for the River Hawks.
In his new role, Brooks will serve as the primary communications contact for the River Hawk men's soccer, women's lacrosse and men's lacrosse programs.
"Kyle has been a dedicated team member in our office for the last two years, and it's been a pleasure to work with him and see his professional growth. I'm thrilled to be able to promote him to a fulltime role within our team, and excited to see how he continues to help enhance the publicity and content creation for UMass Lowell Athletics."
During his first two years in Lowell, Brooks has worked as a communications contact for various teams, including men's soccer and women's lacrosse. In that position, he managed all media relations and social media for his teams, in addition to handling website updates and stories, and overseeing gameday stats operations. He has also assisted in the coverage of all the River Hawk teams, getting to travel to the 2022-23 America East Men's Basketball Playoffs championship game in Burlington, Vt. He has been responsible for general department updates, both on the athletics website and on social media, as well.
"I'm extremely grateful for the opportunity to continue in the Athletic Communications department here at UMass Lowell," commented Brooks. "The past two years have been an incredible way to begin my career and I am looking forward to gaining more experience as a River Hawk."
As an undergraduate at the University of New Hampshire, Brooks interned with the Wildcat Athletic Communications department where he helped stat many athletic events, as well as create graphics and game recaps for over three years. As a senior, he was tasked with helping to manage the UNH football social media accounts, where he would have to create and post a variety of graphics, as well as team updates.
Alongside working in athletic communications, Brooks was also an executive board member for the UNH Sports Career Club in his senior year. In that role, he worked to grow the club through social media advertisements, as well as unique promotions.
Brooks, a native of Rochester, N.H., graduated from New Hampshire with his bachelor's degree in Sport Studies in 2021.
