LOWELL, Mass.—Another busy weekend approaches for the UMass Lowell track & field program gears up for a trio of meets this weekend, April 14-15. The River Hawks kickstart the weekend splitting time between the Northeast Challenge hosted by UConn, the Friar Invitational hosted by Providence and the Larry Ellis Invitational hosted by Princeton.
Â
"I'm looking forward to competing in the warm weather this weekend and running against a very competitive field. We've been lifting and training very hard the last few weeks, so I'm hoping for a smooth and fast pace," said Junior Madison Marsh (Dudley, Mass.).
Â
Speed has been a major focus for the River Hawks as they set their sights on a busy weekend slate. For freshman Jonathan Stock and the rest of the team, practice has been structured around strong finishes and setting themselves up for success.
Â
"We've focused a lot more on speed, trying to work on that final kick that helps you close," remarked Stock. "I'll be looking to try and win my race, and naturally, with that, I hope comes a fast time."
Â
After a busy Friday, the team closes out their weekend with the second and final day of the UConn Northeast Challenge. As conference championships inch closer, the River Hawks are ready to hit the gas and keep spirits high as they home in on the finish line.
Â
"The team and I have been focusing on keeping a positive mindset for the season and hope to carry it all the way to conference," concluded Marsh.
