BRONX, N.Y. – The UMass Lowell women's basketball team (0-6) fell to the Fordham Rams (4-2) 76-49 on Saturday afternoon at the Rose Hill Gym. Freshman
Abbey Lindsey (Staten Island, N.Y.) dropped a career-high 21 points to lead the team and added four rebounds, two steals and one assist.

Leilani Rodriguez (Worcester, Mass.) dished out a team-high four assists and grabbed five rebounds to go with two steals and five points. Redshirt junior
Sydney Watkins (Indianapolis, IN) grabbed seven boards and three steals to lead the team. Freshman
Maddie Rice (Charlottesville, Va.) scored six points and grabbed three rebounds, one steal and one assist.
It was a slow start for the River Hawks, shooting 0-6 from the field in the opening minutes of the contest. Fordham shot 5-9 and built an 10-0 lead at the first media timeout. UMass Lowell got on the board out of the break behind a jumper from freshman
Rayne Durant (New Haven, Conn.) but still trailed by 10 points. A layup from
Abbey Lindsey was just the second make of the quarter as Fordham led 14-4 after one.
Leilani Rodriguez opened the second with a triple, but the Rams answered with a three of their own and maintained the 10-point edge early. UMass Lowell battled and stayed within 10 points in the second quarter but struggled to find a rhythm offensively. Senior
Sydney Coombs (Newmarket, N.H.) came up with four quick points as the River Hawks started to chip away at the lead and trailed by eight at the media timeout.
Abbey Lindsey led the River Hawks with eight points in the first half, shooting 4-8 from the field.
Sydney Watkins grabbed a team-high five rebounds, but Fordham outrebounded UMass Lowell 22-18 in the half. The Rams extended the lead to 12 at the end of the first half.
UMass Lowell got a stop to open the third and
Maddie Rice's jumper at the other end set the River Hawks on a good start to the second half.
Abbey Lindsey continued to shoot well and knocked down a jumper before another defensive stop for UMass Lowell made an eight-point deficit.
The Rams responded with back-to-back makes to restore a 12-point advantage with just under seven to play in the third. Fordham pushed the lead to 15, their largest of the game, at the media timeout of the third quarter. The hosts had the momentum and extended the lead to 53-30 after three.
Lindsey continued to be the top shooter for the River Hawks, shooting 7-18 from the field at the media timeout of the fourth quarter. The Rams were in control to close out the game and secured the victory to improve to 4-2 on the season while UMass Lowell falls to 0-6.
