River Hawks Visit Vermont Saturday Afternoon

LOWELL, Mass. – The UMass Lowell women's basketball (6-9, 3-3 AE) team is back in action Saturday with an afternoon matchup against the Vermont Catamounts (12-9, 6-4 AE). Tip-off is scheduled for 2 p.m. at Patrick Gymnasium.
 
LOOKING AT UMASS LOWELL
The River Hawks head to Vermont after falling to Maine 58-36 on February 2, a second consecutive loss for UMass Lowell. Senior Kharis Idom (Orlando, Fla.)  scored a team-high 11 points. Juniors Shamyjha Price (Pittsburgh, Penn.) and Denise Solis (Windsor, Conn.) each added eight points. Freshman Ivory Finley (Minneapolis, Minn.) and sophomore Jaini Edmonds (Worcester, Mass.) each grabbed five boards to lead the team.
 
SCOUTING THE CATAMOUNTS
Vermont enters Saturday after taking down NJIT 56-30 on February 2. The Catamounts are 8-3 at home this season. Emma Utterback (12.1), Josie Larkins (11.6), and Anna Olson (11.4) are all averaging double-digits points per game this year. Four players have recorded at least 20 steals so far this season. Anna Olson has also tallied a team-best 27 blocks.
 
A WIN WOULD
A win would snap a two-game losing skid for the River Hawks. A win would also be a fourth win in the last five meetings for UMass Lowell. 
 
LEADING THE FLOCK
Solis is averaging a team-high 9.8 points per game, picking up a team-best 69 boards, and a team-high nine blocks. Kharis Idom averages 8.6 points per game and made a team-high 18 three-pointers this season.  Shamyjha Price (23), Idom (16), Ivory Finley (16), and Edmonds (11) have tallied double-digit steals this season. Nine River Hawks have tallied at least 20 rebounds this season, and eleven players have tallied double-digit boards through fourteen games this season. Idom also leads the team with 30 assists on the season, with Edmonds and Rodriguez dishing out 23 and 20 dimes, respectively.
 
THREES COMPANY
The River Hawks scored a season-high 11 three pointers against UMBC, shooting 11-18 for 61% from beyond the arc. It is the most three pointers scored in a single game by UMass Lowell since the team hit 10 against UMBC on February 18, 2017.
 
BOARDS GALORE
The River Hawks have tallied a total of 488 rebounds this season. The team averages 32.5 rebounds per game with the sixth best rebounding margin in the league.
 
FIELD GOAL GETTER
With 56 made field goals on 99 attempts, Denise Solis leads the team in field goal percentage, shooting 56.6% on the year, best in the America East Conference.
 
FRESHMAN IMPACT
Ivory Finley has had a big impact for the River Hawks in her rookie campaign. The freshman has scored 97 points in fourteen games and six starts this season. She has also tallied 57 rebounds and 16 steals.
 
LOW POINTS
The River Hawks limited Bryant to 54 points, the lowest allowed this season. UMass Lowell allowed a season-low points in a quarter three times CCSU, Cornell, and Massachusetts, giving up just seven points in the second quarter, first quarter, and third quarter, respectively. UMass Lowell also held Maine to 55 points on January 19 and limited the Black Bears to just eight points in the second quarter.

The River Hawks visit West Hartford, Connecticut to take on the Hartford Hawks on Monday, February 7. Tip-off is slated for 6 p.m. at Chase Arena.
