River Hawks Host Hartford in Regular Season Finale

LOWELL, Mass. – The UMass Lowell women's basketball team (10-15, 7-9 AE) hosts the Hartford Hawks (4-24, 4-13 AE) in the regular season finale. Tip-off is slated for 6:00 p.m. at the Costello Athletic Center.
 
LOOKING AT UMASS LOWELL
The River Hawks enter Monday after falling on senior night to the Vermont Catamounts on Saturday night. Shamyjha Price led the team with 10 points, adding three assists and two steals. Leilani Rodriguez scored nine and grabbed four boards. UMass Lowell shot 34% from the field and just 16% from behind the arc in the loss. The River Hawks will look to bounce back and go into the postseason on a high note.
 
SCOUTING THE HAWKS
Hartford comes to Lowell after winning back-to-back games against UMBC and NJIT. The Hawks knocked off the Highlanders last time out with a 67-66 overtime win, led by Jabria Ingram's 23 points. Paula Maurina added 21 points to give Hartford the dramatic win in Newark.
 
A WIN WOULD
A win would be a second win in three games to close out the season. A win would also complete the season sweep of the Hawks.
 
LEADING THE FLOCK
Kharis Idom is averaging a team-high 10.0 points per game and leads the team with 39 made threes this season. Denise Solis is averaging 9.7 points per game on the year and has a team-high 104 rebounds through 25 games. Shamyjha Price and Kharis Idom have recorded 31 and 30 steals on the year, respectively. Amaya Dowdy leads the team with 19 blocks, Solis close behind with 15 on the year. Kaylen Banwareesingh is shooting 83.9% from the free throw line, the best percentage on the team. Ivory Finley is shooting 83.3% from the charity stripe, while Kharis Idom is shooting 76.9% from the line.
 
LEAGUE LEADERS
The River Hawks have had plenty of success from behind the arc in the 2021-22 season, going 139-396 through 25 games. UMass Lowell is shooting 35.1% from distance, the best percentage in the league.
 
A DIME A DOZEN
Kharis Idom leads the with 52 assists on the season. Jaini Edmonds (39), Baylee Teal (36), Denise Solis (28), Shamyjha Price (24), and Leilani Rodriguez (23) have dished out over 20 dimes each through 25 games this season.
 
THREES COMPANY
The River Hawks scored a season-high 11 three pointers against UMBC, shooting 11-18 for 61% from beyond the arc. It is the most three pointers scored in a single game by UMass Lowell since the team hit 10 against UMBC on February 18, 2017. The team hit 11 threes for the second time this season against Hartford on February 7, shooting 11-21 from distance. UMass Lowell hit double-digit threes again on February 23 at Stony Brook, knocking down 10 shots from distance.
 
BLOCK PARTY
The River Hawks have tallied 70 blocks in 25 games this season. Amaya Dowdy leads the team with 19 blocks on the year, while Denise Solis has 15. Seven other River Hawks have tallied at least one block this season. The team ranks seventh in the league with 2.7 blocks per game. Dowdy sits ninth in the league averaging 0.9 blocks per game.
 
IDOM ON THE PRIZE
After picking up eight points against Stony Brook on February 23, Kharis Idom became the second River Hawk in the Division I era to surpass 1,000 career points. She sits second in all-time points in the Division I era at UMass Lowell.
 
FIELD GOAL GETTER
With 90 made field goals on 176 attempts, Denise Solis leads the team in field goal percentage, shooting 51.1% on the year.
 
FRESHMAN IMPACT
Ivory Finley has had a big impact for the River Hawks in her rookie campaign. The freshman has scored 138 points in 22 games and six starts this season. She has also tallied 89 rebounds and 24 steals.
