River Hawks Host Vermont for Senior Night on Saturday

LOWELL, Mass. ­– The UMass Lowell women's basketball team (10-14, 7-8 AE) returns home after a six-day road trip to host the Vermont Catamounts (18-10, 12-5 AE). Saturday's game feature a senior night ceremony, as well as the annual Pink Night and Alumni Night at the Tsongas Center.
 
LOOKING AT UMASS LOWELL
The River Hawks enter Saturday after knocking off Stony Brook in a 70-68 thriller on February 23 in New York. Baylee Teal led the team with a career-high 16 points, shooting 6-9 from the field and 4-4 from behind the arc. Denise Solis and Ivory Finley added 12 points apiece. Idom scored eight points at Stony Brook and became the second player in the Division I era to surpass 1,000 career points.
 
SCOUTING THE CATAMOUNTS
Vermont comes to Lowell on a four-game win streak, taking down UAlbany, New Hampshire, UMBC, and Binghamton in that stretch. Emma Utterback and Anna Olson lead the team averaging 12.3 and 12.1 points per game, respectively. Olson has collected a team-leading 180 rebounds and 37 blocks on the season.
 
A WIN WOULD
A win would be a second straight win for the River Hawks and even the season series with the Catamounts.
 
LEADING THE FLOCK
Kharis Idom is averaging a team-high 10.1 points per game and leads the team with 39 made threes this season. Denise Solis is averaging 9.9 points per game on the year and has a team-high 103 rebounds through 24 games. Shamyjha Price and Kharis Idom have recorded a team-leading 29 steals on the year. Amaya Dowdy leads the team with 17 blocks, Solis close behind with 15 on the year. Baylee Teal has found her game in recent weeks and will drive the River Hawk offense against Vermont.
 
LEAGUE LEADERS
The River Hawks have had plenty of success from behind the arc in the 2021-22 season, going 137-384 through 24 games. UMass Lowell is shooting 35.7% from distance, the best percentage in the league.
 
A DIME A DOZEN
Kharis Idom leads the with 47 assists on the season. Jaini Edmonds (39), Baylee Teal (36), Denise Solis (28), Shamyjha Price (24), and Leilani Rodriguez (22) have dished out over 20 dimes each through 24 games this season.
 
THREES COMPANY
The River Hawks scored a season-high 11 three pointers against UMBC, shooting 11-18 for 61% from beyond the arc. It is the most three pointers scored in a single game by UMass Lowell since the team hit 10 against UMBC on February 18, 2017. The team hit 11 threes for the second time this season against Hartford on February 7, shooting 11-21 from distance. UMass Lowell hit double-digit threes again on February 23 at Stony Brook, knocking down 10 shots from distance.
 
IDOM ON THE PRIZE
After picking up eight points against Stony Brook on February 23, Kharis Idom became the second River Hawk in the Division I era to surpass 1,000 career points. She sits second in all-time points in the Division I era at UMass Lowell.
 
FIELD GOAL GETTER
With 89 made field goals on 174 attempts, Denise Solis leads the team in field goal percentage, shooting 51.1% on the year.
