River Hawks Visit Binghamton Saturday Afternoon

LOWELL, Mass. – For the second time in a week, the UMass Lowell women's basketball team (9-12, 6-6 AE) will take on the Binghamton Bearcats (5-18, 1-12 AE) on Saturday afternoon. Tip-off is slated for 2:00 p.m. at the Dr. Bai Lee Court at Events Center.
 
LOOKING AT UMASS LOWELL
The River Hawks enter Saturday after dropping a thriller to Stony Brook on February 9 at the Costello Athletic Center. Jaini Edmonds, Kharis Idom and Denise Solis each scored 12 points in the 69-65 defeat. The River Hawks erased a 16-point deficit and outscored the Seawolves 30-16 in the third quarter to set up a wild finish. UMass Lowell picked up a season-high 19 offensive rebounds against Stony Brook and shot 34.8% from behind the arc.
 
SCOUTING THE BEARCATS
Binghamton enters Saturday on an eight-game losing streak. The lone conference win for the Bearcats this season came against UMBC on January 28. Birna Benonysdottir leads the Bearcats averaging 14.7 points per game. Denai Bowman is also scoring double-digits this season, posting 13.7 points per game. Three Bearcats have tallied at least 15 blocks through 23 games this year. As a unit, Binghamton is shooting 37.7% from the field and 71.6% from the free throw line.
 
A WIN WOULD
A win would put the River Hawks back in the win column and complete the season sweep of Binghamton.
 
LEADING THE FLOCK
Denise Solis is averaging a team-high 10.3 points per game and leads the team with 90 rebounds this season. Kharis Idom is averaging 10.0 points per game on the year, knocking down a team-high 35 3FGs through 21 games. Shamyjha Price has recorded a team-best 26 steals and Amaya Dowdy leads the team with 16 blocks. The River Hawks lead the league from behind the arc, shooting 35.3% on the season. 
 
IDOM ON THE PRIZE
After picking up 10 points against Cornell on December 1, Kharis Idom became the fourth River Hawk in the Division I era to surpass 800 career points. She sits fourth in all-time points in the Division I era at UMass Lowell. Idom currently sits at 979 career points.
 
FIELD GOAL GETTER
With 80 made field goals on 150 attempts, Denise Solis leads the team in field goal percentage, shooting 53.3% on the year and sits third in the league.
 
FRESHMAN IMPACT
Ivory Finley has had a big impact for the River Hawks in her rookie campaign. The freshman has scored 112 points in eighteen games and six starts this season. She has also tallied 71 rebounds and 23 steals.
 
SHARP SHOOTING
In the 2021-22 season, the River Hawks have made 438 field goals in 21 games. Denise Solis leads the team with 80 made field goals. Solis is shooting a team-high 53.3% for 205 points. Kharis Idom has hit 76 field goals this season for 211 points.
