LOWELL, Mass. – Just two days after taking down Binghamton, the UMass Lowell women's basketball team (9-11, 6-5 AE) returns to action to host the NJIT Highlanders (12-11, 7-5 AE) on Wednesday night. Tip-off is scheduled for 7 p.m. at the Costello Athletic Center.

The River Hawks enter Saturday after dropping a thriller to Stony Brook on February 9 at the Costello Athletic Center.

Kharis Idom and
Denise Solis each scored 12 points in the 69-65 defeat. The River Hawks erased a 16-point deficit and outscored the Seawolves 30-16 in the third quarter to set up a wild finish. UMass Lowell picked up a season-high 19 offensive rebounds against Stony Brook and shot 34.8% from behind the arc.
SCOUTING THE HIGHLANDERS
NJIT enters Wednesday on a two-game win streak, taking down New Hampshire (Feb. 9) and Hartford (Feb. 12). Three players are averaging double-digit points this season, Lyzi Litwinko (10.9), Kenna Squier (10.7), and Ellyn Stoll (10.6). Litwinko leads the team with 153 rebounds on the year, averaging 7.0 boards per game. As a unit, the Highlanders are shooting 40.8% from the field through 23 games this season.
A WIN WOULD
A win would be a third consecutive win for the River Hawks. It would also be a fifth straight win over NJIT.
LEADING THE FLOCK
Kharis Idom is averaging a team-high 10.4 points per game, picking up a team-best 36 assists, and a team-high 35 threes.
Denise Solis averages 9.6 points per game and shooting a team-high 53.3% this season. Eight River Hawks have tallied double-digit steals this season. Nine River Hawks have tallied at least 20 rebounds this season, and eleven players have tallied double-digit boards through eighteen games this season.
Jaini Edmonds has dished out 36 dimes, while
Baylee Teal has 29 and
Denise Solis has tallied 26.
LEAGUE LEADERS
The River Hawks have had plenty of success from behind the arc in the 2021-22 season, going 119-326 through twenty games. UMass Lowell is shooting 36.5% from distance, the best percentage in the league.
A DIME A DOZEN
Kharis Idom, Janai Edmonds, and
Leilani Rodriguez lead the team with double-digit assists each through twenty games this season. Idom has tallied 40 dimes, while Edmonds has 36.

Baylee Teal have each dished out double-digit dimes this season, as well.
THREES COMPANY
The River Hawks scored a season-high 11 three pointers against UMBC, shooting 11-18 for 61% from beyond the arc. It is the most three pointers scored in a single game by UMass Lowell since the team hit 10 against UMBC on February 18, 2017. The team hit 11 threes for the second time this season against Hartford on February 7, shooting 11-21 from distance.
IDOM ON THE PRIZE
After picking up 10 points against Cornell on December 1,
Kharis Idom became the fourth River Hawk in the Division I era to surpass 800 career points. She sits fourth in all-time points in the Division I era at UMass Lowell. Idom currently sits at 975 career points.
FIELD GOAL GETTER
With 73 made field goals on 137 attempts,
Denise Solis leads the team in field goal percentage, shooting 53.3% on the year.
FRESHMAN IMPACT
Ivory Finley has had a big impact for the River Hawks in her rookie campaign. The freshman has scored 109 points in seventeen games and six starts this season. She has also tallied 67 rebounds and 20 steals.
