River Hawks Host Binghamton Monday Night

LOWELL, Mass. – A quick turnaround ahead for the UMass Lowell women's basketball team (8-11, 5-5 AE) as they kick off a three-game week on Monday night when they will host the Binghamton Bearcats (3-16, 1-10 AE). Tip-off is scheduled for 5 p.m. at the Costello Athletic Center.
 
All-Time Series: UMass Lowell is 4-12 all-time against Binghamton.
 
First Meeting:      January 7, 2014 (Binghamton, 65-64)
Last Meeting:       January 17, 2021 (Binghamton, 67-63)
 
Monday is the first meeting between UMass Lowell and Binghamton this season. The teams will play each other twice in five days. Binghamton holds a 12-4 overall record against UMass Lowell. The River Hawks last win over the Bearcats came on January 16, 2021, a 59-49 win in Lowell. Binghamton has just one conference win this season, coming earlier in the year against UMBC (1/29/22).
 
LOOKING AT UMASS LOWELL
The River Hawks enter Saturday after dropping a thriller to Stony Brook on February 9 at the Costello Athletic Center. Jaini Edmonds, Kharis Idom and Denise Solis each scored 12 points in the 69-65 defeat. The River Hawks erased a 16-point deficit and outscored the Seawolves 30-16 in the third quarter to set up a wild finish. UMass Lowell picked up a season-high 19 offensive rebounds against Stony Brook and shot 34.8% from behind the arc.
 
SCOUTING THE BEARCATS
Binghamton comes to Lowell on a six-game losing skid. The Bearcats have won just one conference game this season, a 67-44 win over UMBC on Janaury 29. Birna Benonysdottir leads the team averaging 14.9 points per game, shooting 43% from the field this season. Denai Bowman is averaging 14.1 points on the year, shooting 45.5% this season. Bowman leads the team with 39 steals in 21 games played, averaging 1.9 steals per game.
 
A WIN WOULD
A win would be a second consecutive win for the River Hawks. It would also be a third win in the last five games against Binghamton.
 
LEADING THE FLOCK
Kharis Idom is averaging a team-high 10.0 points per game, picking up a team-best 36 assists, and a team-high 32 threeís. Denise Solis averages 9.6 points per game and shooting a team-high 54.3% this season. Eight River Hawks have tallied double-digit steals this season. Nine River Hawks have tallied at least 20 rebounds this season, and eleven players have tallied double-digit boards through eighteen games this season. Jaini Edmonds has dished out 35 dimes, while Baylee Teal and Denise Solis have tallied 26 each.
 
IDOM ON THE PRIZE
After picking up 10 points against Cornell on December 1, Kharis Idom became the fourth River Hawk in the Division I era to surpass 800 career points. She sits fourth in all-time points in the Division I era at UMass Lowell. Idom currently sits at 958 career points.
 
FIELD GOAL GETTER
With 69 made field goals on 127 attempts, Denise Solis leads the team in field goal percentage, shooting 54.3% on the year.
 
FRESHMAN IMPACT
Ivory Finley has had a big impact for the River Hawks in her rookie campaign. The freshman has scored 105 points in sixteen games and six starts this season. She has also tallied 64 rebounds and 17 steals.
