LOWELL, Mass. – The UMass Lowell women's basketball team (3-4, 0-0 AE) returns home to host the Towson Tigers (7-1, 0-0 CAA) on Wednesday afternoon at the Costello Athletic Center.
 
LOOKING AT UMASS LOWELL
The River Hawks enter Wednesday after falling to Massachusetts 58-53 on Sunday December 5. Junior 
Denise Solis (Windsor, Conn.) recorded her first double-double of the season with a season-high 20 points and 14 rebounds. Solis went 9-16 from the field. Senior 
Kharis Idom (Orlando, Fla.) scored 14 points and added four assists, four rebounds, and four steals. UMass Lowell is now 1-4 on the road this season.
 
SCOUTING TOWSON
The Tigers come to Lowell after taking down East Carolina University 66-51 on December 4. Towson is currently on a four-game win streak with wins over Millersville University (95-46), Howard University (96-52), Delaware State University (76-47), and ECU (66-51). Aleah Nelson leads the team averaging 16.9 points per game. Three other Tigers are averaging double-digit points per game this season.
 
A WIN WOULD
A win would be the first victory for the River Hawks over Towson in just the second all-time meeting between the teams.
 
HOME COURT ADVANTAGE
Last year, the River Hawks won seven of their 10 home games.  More than half of their wins from last season came on the River Hawks home court. UMass Lowell is 2-0 on home court this season.
 
FREE THROW SUCCESS
The River Hawks have had plenty of success from the free throw line to start the 2021-22 season, going 65-91 through seven games. UMass Lowell shot a season-high 7-8 from the stripe against Michigan on November 16 and went 15-19 on November 13 against Bryant and November 24 against CCSU.
 
IDOM ON THE PRIZE
After picking up 10 points against Cornell on December 1, 
Kharis Idom became the fourth River Hawk in the Division I era to surpass 800 career points. She sits fourth in all-time points in the Division I era at UMass Lowell.
 
LOW POINTS
The River Hawks limited Bryant to 54 points, the lowest allowed this season. UMass Lowell allowed a season-low points in a quarter three times CCSU, Cornell, and Massachusetts, giving up just seven points in the second quarter, first quarter, and third quarter, respectively.
