Box Score ITHACA, N.Y. – The UMass Lowell women's basketball team (3-3, 0-0 AE) picked up a second consecutive win and first road win of the season with a 53-44 victory over the Cornell Big Red (4-4, 0-0 IVY) on Wednesday night.

Kaylen Banwareesingh (Bronx, N.Y.) had a major impact off the bench, scoring 10 points and picking up five rebounds, one block, and one steal. Senior
Kharis Idom (Orlando, Fla.) scored 10 points and added two steals. After Wednesday's performance, Idom becomes the fourth River Hawk to reach 800 career points.
The River Hawks were ready to go from the jump, shooting 43% in the first quarter. The team picked up eight boards, seven on the defensive end, and forced Cornell into six turnovers early in the game. Sophomore
Erin Lofaro (Marlboro, N.Y.) had a team-high three assists as UMass Lowell led 13-7 after the opening frame.
UMass Lowell held Cornell scoreless for the first three minutes of the second quarter, forcing the Big Red into difficult shots and grabbing defensive rebounds. Idom knocked down a three to give the River Hawks a 18-9 lead before the Big Red battled back, cutting the lead to 24-21 at the half. Cornell shot 7-29 from the field in the first half but found themselves still very much in the game. UMass Lowell shot 10-26 from the field.
Out of the halftime break, Cornell continued to battle and chip away at the River Hawk lead.
Denise Solis (Windsor, Conn.) and Janai Edmonds (Worcester, Mass.) got on the board early in the third quarter, helping UMass Lowell push the lead to 32-26. After shooting 4-13, the River Hawks took a 40-34 lead into the final 10 minutes.
The Big Red started to knock down shots in the fourth quarter, scoring on back-to-back trips to cut the lead to 42-38 with 5:37 left in regulation, forcing UMass Lowell to call timeout. Out of the break, The River Hawks held off a Big Red surge. Freshman
Ivory Finley (Minneapolis, Minn.) knocked down a big three to extend the lead to 47-40 with under two minutes to play. Free throws from Banwareesingh sealed a 53-44 victory for the River Hawks.
Finley finished nine points, five rebounds, and three steals off the bench. Edmonds finished the game with nine points and four rebounds. Lofaro grabbed a team-high eight rebounds and team-high five assists.
