Box Score BOSTON, Mass. – The UMass Lowell women's basketball team (1-3, 0-0 AE) fell to the Northeastern Huskies (3-1, 0-0 CAA) on Saturday afternoon at the Cabot Center.

Shamyjha Price (Pittsburgh, Penn.) scored eight and picked up a team-high seven rebounds in Saturday's loss. Sophomore
Sydney Coombs (Newmarket, N.H.) finished with a team-high 12 points and picked up three assists and one rebound.
The River Hawks struggled from the field in the first quarter, shooting just 1-6 at the media timeout. Out of the break, UMass Lowell shot 3-5, but trailed 12-9 at the end of the first quarter. In the second quarter, sophomores Janai Edmonds (Worcester, Mass.) and Coombs rallied the River Hawks and a 6-0 put UMass Lowell ahead 15-14, forcing a Northeastern timeout.
The Huskies and River Hawks battled for the lead, with the two teams exchanging points in a back-and -forth second quarter. Costly turnovers allowed Northeastern to jump ahead 24-21, forcing UMass Lowell into a timeout late in the half. The Huskies continued to roll and finished the half on an 11-0 run to take a 31-21 lead into the break. Coombs led the River Hawks with six points in the opening half.
Northeastern opened the second half on an 8-2 run to extend the lead to 39-23 lead. The Huskies continued to apply pressure, forcing UMass Lowell into a timeout. The River Hawks could not stop the Northeastern rhythm and were down 55-35 at the end of the third quarter.
Price and junior
Denise Solis (Windsor, Conn.) came up with big plays in the fourth quarter to spark life in the River Hawks. Back-to-back scores and a steal from Solis brought UMass Lowell within 14, before freshman
Ivory Finley (Minneapolis, Minn.) knocked down a three to cut the Northeastern lead to 55-44.
The Huskies did not score until the 4:31 mark of the fourth quarter, with Kendall Currence knocking down two free throws. The River Hawks fought hard late in the game, cutting the Northeastern lead, but ultimately fell 61-47.
UMass Lowell returns home to host Central Connecticut State University on Wednesday, November 24 at the Costello Athletic Center.
